This package uses `module.exports =` to export its values. To type this correctly using TypeScript, the type definitions should specify `export =`. However, it was typed using `export default`. While at it, I also removed the need to maintain an npm project in a subdirectory. I also removed `.npmignore`. This is redundant, as `package.json` specifies `files`.
