# 2026 Goals

I'm structuring each of these goals with the intent of accomplishing one thing per quarter. I think this cadence is just enough to challenge myself but not so frequent I get overwhelmed.

## Workouts

I know, I know, super original for me to have fitness goals going into the new year. My goal is to finish a race or learn a new sport once a quarter.

I've already signed up for the [Surf City Half Marathon](https://www.runsurfcity.com/) in February, which will be my first half marathon, and [Levi's Gran Fondo - TODO: MILEAGE](https://www.levisgranfondo.com/) in April which should be a challenging but rewarding ride up in Sonoma County, CA. In prep for both but mostly the Levi's ride, I plan to ride 1000km in January so that'll be a fun challenge in combo with half marathon training.

After attending as many of the USU Hockey home games as I could for three years I played a single game of hockey in a friend's rec league. I was horrible and we lost big time. So to make up for it (and because I had fun despite spending most of the game on my butt) I want to take some lessons. The plan is to get some cheap used skates, and hit open skate a few times before I register for lessons and maybe a league in the last half the year.

## Creative Endeavor

Over Thanksgiving I made some fused glass with my uncle who's an art teacher and it was a ton of fun. I forgot how much fun it is to make art. So my goal is to make or do or create art in some way in a different form each quarter. I have some ideas (pottery, glass coasters, TODO: MORE IDEAS). But I'm intentionally leaving this one open ended.

## This Website

Somewhat inline with the above goal I want to write more. The plan is to have that come in the form of more blog posts and actually doing some of the project write ups I've talked about doing here. End goal is to do one blog post and backfill one project post each quarter.

## 2025-08

Right now I work for [Anduril Industries](https://www.anduril.com/) as a Mission Success Specialist. Which is an exceptionally vague title. But my day-to-day is tier one support for internationally-deployed counter-uas systems. It's been a great first-job-outta-college gig and I feel that I've grown a lot professionally from it. It's been pretty cool to start my day with a meeting in London and end it in Sydney (both digitally of course). Both offices have beautiful views so I hope to at least make it to each city some day.

I've recently started commuting to work by bike. It's just under ten miles each way, so not too bad (or much longer time-wise than going by car honestly). It's nice to have something to look forward to each morning and at the end of the work day.

When I'm not at my desk or in the saddle, I'm working on my home server, hanging out with my fiance, or riding my cruiser bike to the local 24/7 donut shop (yeah I'm still in the saddle but this one's comfy).

Not a whole lot has changed in the few months since my last update. I still work at [Anduril Industries](https://www.anduril.com/) but now as a Software Engineer. I really enjoy the work and I'm glad to be working as an engineer again, it's nice to be able to focus on one specific problem for a long time. My old role had me bouncing between problems what felt like every 15 minutes, which was fun in it's own way but not something I wanted long term.

I still am cycling a lot. I've really enjoyed getting to and from work by bike and have some good friends and groups I go out with on the weekends to get some extra miles in.

When I'm not at my desk or in the saddle, I'm working on my home server, hanging out with my fiance, or riding my cruiser bike to the local 24/7 donut shop (yeah I'm still in the saddle but this one's comfy).
I'm putting some goals for the new year [here](../blog/posts/2026-goals.md) to help keep myself accountable, I'll follow update the blog post later to see how well I'm doing 👀.

## Extra extra

So interesting that you want to know even more about me? I'm flattered, give my [about page](../blog/posts/about.md) a read
