What is the Astree?
Astree is a free, open source, optical design software. Its computes, optimize and shows the light analysis of optical devices,. Optical Surfaces can be conical or polynomial,having reflections, transmissions, stops, void, etc. It also have an optimizer to enhance your design.
What is the Astree license?
Astree source code is licensed under the GNU LESSER GENERAL PUBLIC LICENSE Version 3 or later. It means basically that you are free to use, and use in your own application, with no warranty. Please see: https://github.com/edeforas/Astree/blob/master/LICENSE.txt The designs created with Astree belongs entirely to you and are not covered by this license.
There is already a lot of optical design software !?
Yes, I know. Astree is for astronomer or hobyyist, and it tries to be as simple at possible, but compatible with the professional optician conventions. Please try other softwares (installation, plateform, first design time, licensing, privacy, design quality, commercial limitations), to see which one fit best your needs, and tell me what you think.
