Move the background item to the right

Includes #523 as that makes this a trivial change.

I wanted to try this and ended up liking it quite a bit better so proposing it here. A few arguments in favor of this:

• It follows the hig better which says the rarer something is used the more to the right it should be placed and I don't think people interact very often with the background item
• IMO this also helps with the feeling that they are to prominent which wasn't helped by them being right in the middle
• It brings more separation because there is always a whole icon with a + between the rest of the workspaces and the background apps

Hrm I don't really love this tbh. I think I really want the action item to be at the end here. That HIG entry is specifically about apps that have a toolbar where you're trying to decide to pack tool items start or end and what order.

I think the idea here is that this area represents apps that aren't on screen, and background apps are on the "0th workspace", a theoretical invisible workspace that you can't actually go to. So it feels weird to insert new workspaces in between instead of at the end of the list of workspaces

100% agree. It was also my thought and I didn't think it would be a good idea to move it to the right but when I did it just felt so much more out of the way and I kind of liked it. But I'm also not sure whether that overweighs breaking with the concept and would currently even say myself probably not 🤷. In any case I just wanted to propose this to see other peoples thoughts.
