There’s nothing more unsettling than waking up in the same room, again and again, each time with blood on your hands and no memory of how it got there. Echoes in Red is a looping psychological thriller that forces you to question not just who you can trust, but whether you can even trust yourself.
When you launch the game, you will see a disclaimer screen right at the start.
It warns you about:
- Blood, psychological horror, and disturbing imagery.
- Unreliable narrators and gaslighting galore.
- Basically: if you came for wholesome romance, you are very lost.
- Multiple Endings: Some bad, some worse, some hidden.
- Time Loops: Because one horrific death isn’t enough.
- Trust System: Trust Alex too much? Die. Trust Sophie too much? Also die. Accuse everyone? Still probably die lol.
- Dynamic Suspense: Heartbeats, creepy rooms, and increasingly suspicious dialogue.
- Ren’Py (the trusty VN engine, with extra blood flavouring).
- A Laptop at 3 AM (the true horror).
This project started as “a small thriller VN” and spiralled into:
- Tracking who kills you.
- Counting how many times you trust suspicious people.
- Writing increasingly sassy death screens.
I have exported Echoes in Red in HTML format and deployed it on itch.io, so you can play it directly in your browser.
