The Star Mail resource pack adds textures for letters, such as the following:
The plugin offers the possibility to download and use the provided texture pack, when a player join the server. So they don't have to load and unload each time. Otherwise, here is the download.
You can also configure a customized server-side resourcepack to be used inside config.yml:
