The build and dist folders should be removed first since they're extraneous to the software. Happy to merge it once @abalagopal gets a chance to clean those up and the linters are happy |

Allowing for custom time profile for the signal and background pdf. For example, if we want to provide a light-curve based time profile, we simply need to provide the edges as a custom profile.
