  • Bus - An entity representing the physical vehicle that drives a route
  • Call period - A period of time when a driver is on call
  • Companies - A company that operates a particular fleet of buses
  • Competition - When buses compete against each other to run a route
  • Delay - When a bus is held up by traffic/breakdown etc.
  • Driver - The person who drives the bus
  • Holiday - A period of time a driver may have off from work
  • Integrated Bus Management System - The new bus management system we are developing. For overall coordination.
  • On call - When a driver is not scheduled to drive any routes but is available in emergencies
  • Operator - A company that owns buses and employs drivers to run routes
  • Rostering - The assignment of, for example, drivers to buses.
  • Route - The route that a bus follows
  • Theoretical timetable - The pre-planned timetable which may be subject to change due to delays
  • Timetable - The list of buses and their relevant times
  • Bus Stop - Designated locations (on the road) the bus will have to stop at (pick up people)
  • Bus Service - A set of routes and times
  • Bus ID - The unique identity of the each individual buses
  • Driver ID - The unique identity of the each individual driver
  • Bus Age - The amount of time its been running on route in total
  • Departure Time - The time the bus left the depo
  • Termination Time - The time the bus stop running
  • Break - the period of time a driver will have to take a break during driving
  • Shift - block of time table hours the drivers have to drive
  • Bus Stop Sequence - the order the bus stop actually has to stop
  • Rest Days - Each driver are entitled to individual holidays (2 days)
