Trying this again, but only proposing a merge into the torch_fix branch. This fixes #10, but is maybe risky fix in the sense that it'll just unpickle anything now.

Once this is merged I'd recommend merging torch_fix into torch, as the changes made in torch_fix considerably improve upon the current torch branch, and the Speculator model infrastructure works well on torch_fix.
