Requirements

  • Windows XP or later with .NET 4.0 Framework or greater
  • Or alternate OS with latest Mono

Installation

Installation by xcopy (portable)

The .msi installer below is not required as its contents are provided as separate downloads. Both programs are self-contained executables and may be installed by either:

  • Copying to a directory in your path and running from the command line.
  • Copying to any directory and executing using the fully qualified path.

Installation using the provided .msi

Running the provided installer will typically place files into the Program Files (x86)\Filebert folder.

Below are all the dialogs of the Filebert.msi installation wizard.

The default scope is Verbose.

The default is no folder-level validations. Check other options only to validate either EAC or XLD rips.

Strict mode will escalate a number of reported issues to errors.

Modifying Explorer is just one of many ways to invoke Filebert.

A UAC screen may appear to complete the previous dialog.

A quick churn.

Finished!

Using the command line

Running directly from a console window provides the greatest flexibility but requires the most typing. Use the /? switch for either executable to view usage.

Using desktop shortcuts

Desktop shortcuts provide a good balance of flexibility and productivity.

  1. In Explorer, right click on any of the provided executables then from the Send to menu select Desktop (create shortcut).
  2. Edit the shortcut properties and append parameters to the Target field. Be sure to include /k to wait for the escape key or the console window will vanish.
  3. Invoke by dragging either files or directories from Explorer and dropping on the created shortcut.

Next is an example shortcut that checks FLAC rips with the /flacrip and /strict switches.

A Likewise shortcut might be created for FilebertWin.exe with defaults set by any supplied switches.
