As described in #23 leafo/scssphp should be updated to at least 0.7.8 to be able to use Interpolation support selector (e.g. in Bootstrap > 4.2).

As I am using the extension inside a composer install I am currently using 0.7.8 so I can confirm it works with that version.
I did not test with v0.8.x.
Sooner or later one should switch to https://github.com/scssphp/scssphp anyway.
