The RIPPED Hinge Issue
Windows laptops are NOTORIOUS for hinge issues - and we fully understand how frustrating it can be! Before you panic, try to close the laptop if possible. When a hinge breaks, the screen/LCD cable is often exposed - and keeping the laptop open can lead to damaging the cable which is more costly than a simple hinge repair. For some laptops, you can also plug them in and hook them up to an external monitor in the meantime so you can use the laptops with an external keyboard and mouse. This is called "Clamshell" mode and we highly recommend using this mode if you have a broken hinge until you get the laptop repaired.MacBook Water Damage
Water damage IS often fixable, and how you handle it can often dictate how quickly/how expensive the repair will be. Shutting off the laptop immediately after water is dropped ensures no motherboard lines are active whilst the water is going into the laptop. Silica gel packets are ideal if you have some - and putting the laptop in a big plastic bag with the gel packets for a couple days has a chance to remove all water from the device and prevent costly repairs.Keyboard Issues
Keycaps break - whether it's a child who ripped a keycap whilst playing, or damage from a drop, keyboards don't always have to be replaced. If a keycap has been ripped, try popping it back in place - this will often fix the issue especially for windows laptops (applying some gentle pressure helps getting it back in place). If the metal jaws of the keyboard have broken off, this is where a professional repair is necessary.We don't mess around.
