Oops, I went through and updated this to GTK-3 last night before realizing there already was a GTK-3 branch!
Anyways, I found the similarities and differences between what you did and what I did interesting, which is the only real reason I'm submitting this pull request.
Feel free to close it or reject it or whatnot.
