The difference with 'pointcloud_compute.py' is:

  • compute the normals for each individual depth image. These normals are oriented towards the camera center;
  • the format for saving pointcloud/meshes is now '.ply' (in binary) instead of '.obj';
  • this scripts requires Open3D is required.

In order to install Open3D:
pip install open3d-python
or
conda install -c open3d-admin open3d
