Not completely sure I did everything right, but what I have done here is add "Hide Column" and "Show Columns" to the right click popup menu for column headers.
Hide Columnwill hide the column from display.Show Columnswill allow to show hidden columns or hide other columns.It adds an optional 'hidden' property to the Column type (which gets saved ... I didn't know where else I could put it).
Since some of my sheets have a lot of columns, I figured being able to hide some that I'm not interested at the moment would make it more convenient and easy to see the contents of the columns that I am interested in at the moment.
