The main reason for this is to provide a path for reducing the number of steps to getting submissions from students into the grading scripts It's not complete, it handles string submissions incorrectly, and I'm uncertain how to handle submissions with symbolic types

I'm less worried about the problem of reading symbols, since matlab apparently has issues reading them too... |

This is incomplete and has issues (mainly strings and symbolic typed variables). It's just some work in an attempt to reduce the amount of effort to get submissions into the grader; ideally all handled by the web interface and maybe the canvas api
