What is it?

  • feat: host external tools, ipc messaging

Notes

  • not accessible until tool activation
  • communication layer - facilitates running external tools in a child process
    • Note: inline tools, since they require embedding with the server, are run in the same context as built-ins
  • host layer for external tools - helps determine the available return types for tools as plugins
  • supports MCP tools should be expandable via tool-plugins #22
  • related feat: mcp tools as plugins #41
