Hey โ€” welcome ๐Ÿ‘‹

Iโ€™m Toms, a senior full-stack developer based in Riga, Latvia.

Iโ€™ve spent over a decade building and maintaining production web applications across fintech, telecom, healthcare, media, and blockchain โ€” mostly in remote, cross-border teams. My work usually sits at the intersection of frontend architecture, backend APIs, and developer tooling.

What I spend my time on

  • Designing and building React / Next.js applications that scale beyond MVPs
  • Developing and maintaining Node.js backends, SDKs, and REST APIs
  • Improving developer experience through onboarding, examples, testing, and documentation
  • Making pragmatic architectural decisions that keep systems maintainable long-term

Frontend

React Next.js TanStack Start TypeScript JavaScript HTML5 CSS3 SCSS Styled Components

State Management & Data Fetching

Redux MobX React Query (TanStack Query)

Backend & APIs

Node.js Express.js NestJS Convex

Databases & Data

PostgreSQL MySQL MongoDB Redis

CMS & Content

Contentful Sanity

Testing & Quality

Jest Cypress

Tooling & Delivery

Git Docker GitHub Actions Bitbucket JIRA

Currently exploring

  • TanStack AI and emerging patterns around AI-assisted UX and data workflows
  • Modern full-stack architectures focused on fast iteration and strong developer experience

How I work

  • Agile / Scrum delivery in distributed teams
  • PRINCE2 Agile project management foundations
  • Clear communication with product, design, and non-technical stakeholders

I value explicit tradeoffs, boring solutions that work, and code that the next person can understand. If something in a repo looks opinionated, it probably is โ€” and Iโ€™m happy to explain why.
