Yeah, this one is a bit awkward. I think you can just use

"rounds to nearest integer"

The point of the short desc is to define the "linkable" text. So if I have a higher order package accepting ndarrays and I want to automatically generate a link to a base package which has more details on the fundamental op, what is the substring in the desc that I can use to converting to a link. In this case, that text would be rounds to nearest integer.

No, as that would imply that input double should be output "some integer dtype". Instead, the output policy should be same. If I provide a double, I expect a double out. The value is just rounded. This is similar to abs.
