Version 11

Some minor changes were made to the introduction to update it to 2024 and move some figures around. The figure from the Whitney Museum has been replaced from the web version to a higher quality print version that they provided to me.

References to figures chapters, equations and sections have been made consistent so that they are written in full in the main text and in abbreviated form when in parenthesis.

A final pass with grammarly (on the rendered doc) has been made and grammatical changes have been made throughout.

Version 10

This version has been proofread by both supervisors and minor grammatical and stylistic changes have been made. In addition, more references, and images where copyright permission has been granted have been included in this report. There is only one image used here where permission has not yet been granted.

Version 9 -- first proof-read draft

This is the second version of the full draft, after being proof read by me

Changes from the previous version include breaking down contributions into the introduction, fillng in the missing section on RL in the background chapter. Adding some missing references and fixing broken links, and some minor grammatical changes.

This is now the first full draft, after being passed through Grammarly.

Changes from the previous version include writing the discussion and conclusion chapters as well as the abstract. The interlude has been removed also.
