This pull request focuses on improving the maintainability and readability of the StandardExecutionStrategy by refactoring complex logic into smaller, more focused private methods. This change aims to enhance code quality and simplify future modifications without altering the external behavior of the execution strategy.

Highlights

  • Code Refactoring: Extracted error handling logic into a dedicated private method handleError to improve modularity and readability.
  • Code Refactoring: Extracted the timeout execution logic into a new private method executeWithTimeout to encapsulate related functionality.
  • Code Quality: Addressed a SonarCloud code quality issue by reducing the Cognitive Complexity of the StandardExecutionStrategy class.
Changelog
  • src/strategies/StandardExecutionStrategy.ts
    • Extracted error handling logic from run and executeWithTimeout methods into a new private method handleError.
    • Moved the timeout execution logic into a new private method executeWithTimeout.
    • Updated the setTimeout call to use the non-null assertion operator for step.timeout.
Activity
  • PR created automatically by Jules for task 17633989558304143459, started by @thalesraymond.

Code Review

This pull request successfully refactors the StandardExecutionStrategy to reduce cognitive complexity by extracting logic into the private methods handleError and executeWithTimeout. This improves the code's readability and maintainability. I have one piece of feedback regarding the use of a non-null assertion to further improve code robustness in line with the project's general rules.

The use of the non-null assertion operator (!) should be avoided to improve robustness, as stated in the general rules. While the calling execute method currently ensures step.timeout is present, this assumption might be broken by future changes. A better approach is to make executeWithTimeout more self-contained by adding a guard clause at the beginning of the method to validate step.timeout. You could assign it to a new timeout constant and use that constant here and in the error message on line 46.

References
  1. In TypeScript, avoid using the non-null assertion operator (!). Instead, use explicit checks or safe fallbacks like the nullish coalescing operator (??) to handle potentially null or undefined values. This improves robustness against future changes that might break assumptions about the value's existence.
