This repository contains IRAF scripts for data reduction of the Gemini Observatory instruments. The procedures were written using standard Gemini/IRAF tasks.
-
Install Gemini/IRAF. Instructions and links to the various options can be found at the US NGO Gemini Data Reduction Overview webpage.
-
Each script comes with a
.listfile, which includes the url of all the.fitsfiles needed for the reduction. You can copy/paste the urls on your browser or you can do a bulk download to the current directory using thewgetpackage on your terminal:wget --input-file [name].listNote:
wgetcomes pre-installed on most Linux distributions. It can be installed on macOS using homebrew:brew install wget
GMOS longslit B600 spectroscopy of a star PPM063347. This dataset was observed in 2016 with GMOS North. At that point, GMOS still had the e2v CCD's. Dataset includes Bias, Flat, Arc Lamp, and Science frames (see GMOS_LS_e2v.list). Link to the IRAF script or direct download.
GMOS longslit B600 spectroscopy of a star HD166379. This dataset was observed in 2019 with GMOS North. At that point, GMOS already had the current Hamamatsu CCD's. Dataset includes Bias, Flat, Arc Lamp, and Science frames (see GMOS_LS_hamamatsu.list). Link to the IRAF script or direct download.

US NGO Portal: Data reduction with IRAF and Gemini/IRAF has been extensively covered over the years. The US NGO Portal has documentation and links to several tutorials and cookbooks (including the US NGO GMOS Cookbook) on the instrument pages.
-
Gemini DR Forum: The Gemini Observatory maintains a Data Reduction User Forum with materials on data reduction, software installation, and much more!
Problems, comments, suggestions, and/or need help with setting up and running the Jupyter notebooks? You can contact the US NGO members via our Portal, Twitter, or submit a New issue through github.
