+## Introduction
+
+Windows Server Evaluation editions are designed for testing purposes and are limited in time. To continue using the same installation in production, the evaluation edition can be converted to a fully licensed version without reinstalling the operating system.
+
+Microsoft supports this in place conversion using the DISM tool, provided that a valid product key for the target edition is available.

+## Prerequisites
+
+Before starting the conversion, make sure you have a valid product key for the Windows Server edition you want to switch to, such as Standard or Datacenter. The product key must match the target edition exactly.

+## Obtaining current edition
+
+To verify which edition is currently installed, open an elevated Command Prompt or PowerShell session and execute the following command:
+

+DISM /Online /Get-CurrentEdition
+```

+The output will show the active edition identifier. Evaluation installations are typically displayed as `ServerStandardEval` or `ServerDatacenterEval`.

+## Checking supported target editions
+

+During the process, the progress may appear to pause for a short time. This behavior is normal. After the conversion completes, a restart is required to finalize the edition change.

+## Verify Windows Server version
+
+Once the server has restarted, open an elevated Command Prompt or PowerShell and run:
+

+```

+The output should now display the licensed edition, such as `ServerStandard` or `ServerDatacenter`, confirming that the evaluation edition was successfully converted.

+At this stage, you will see the **Activate Windows** watermark in the lower right corner of the screen. You can now use your purchased Windows Server license to activate the Windows Server Standard or Datacenter edition.

+
+
+### Available
+
+A domain is in the available state when it is not registered by any owner. During this stage, the domain can be [registered](domain-order.md).
+
+### Active
+
+After successful registration, the domain enters the active stage. While active, the domain functions normally and can be used for websites, email addresses, and other services. The domain remains active as long as it is renewed before the expiration date.
+
+### Expired
+
+If the domain is not renewed before its expiration date, it enters the expired state. In this stage, the domain stops working and connected services such as websites and email may become unavailable. Renewal may still be possible depending on the domain extension.
+
+### Grace period
+
+Many domain extensions include a grace period after expiration. During this time, the domain can usually be renewed. The duration of the grace period depends on the top level domain.
+
+### Redemption period
+
+If the domain is not renewed during the grace period, it may enter the redemption period. In this stage, the domain can still be restored, However, not all domain extensions support a redemption period.
+
+### Pending deletion
+
+When the redemption period ends without renewal, the domain moves into pending deletion. At this point, the domain can no longer be recovered. After deletion is completed, the domain becomes available again for registration by anyone.
