What is a digital exhibit?
A digital exhibit is a set of media, text and links and media meant to tell a story or explore a topic or theme. Digital exhibits utilize information and artifacts from the archive collections, as well as other internal and external resources.
What purposes do digital exhibits serve?
Digital exhibits help to present artifacts and resources from digital collections in a way that is accessible to the public. The Thomas A. Edison Papers’ digital exhibits are meant to expand on topics related to the life and work of Thomas Edison, and present materials from the digital and book editions in formats that can be used by a wide public audience.
What is the intended audience of Thomas A. Edison Papers’ digital exhibits?
Digital exhibits created by Thomas A. Edison Papers are intended for a public audience. In addition, they may be designed and created for educational purposes or as a resource for public school educators.

Storymaps are used for geographical exhibits.

Get access to the TAEP interns Gmail account from Paul and use this account to login to Knight Labs.

Create your Storymap
- Make a copy of the TAEP Exhibit Information document, share with Paul and update as exhibit is developed. This will be used to create the content on the website page where your Storymap will be embedded.
Timelines can be used for chronological exhibits or exhibit elements and can be be embedded on a website page-based exhibit or a Juncture Visual Essay.
All timeline spreadsheets should be created and saved within the TAEP timeline spreadsheets folder on Google Drive. Please see Paul for folder access if needed. When you have access, duplicate any existing timeline in the timeline folder and follow these instructions to create your timeline exhibit:

Rename your new spreadsheet file with your exhibit name.

The first slide row can contain either only a title and a media file for a single column layout, or a title, media file and description for a two column layout.

Create your timeline spreadsheet.

Create Embed Code for TAEP Timeline Exhibits

Copy the spreadsheet URL.

Scroll to Step 3 “Generate your timeline”.

Copy the spreadsheet URL.

Leave the default width (100%) and height (650px) settings.

In the optional settings box, click “show”.

Change the font setting to “Lustria & Lato”.

Adjust zoom level if needed.

Scroll to step 4 and click “Preview” to apply settings.

Review the timeline.

Copy and paste the embed code into your TAEP Exhibit Information Document.
