• there are two pid_loop files - pid_loop.py and pid_loop_v2.py - are both relevant or is one superseded?
• there's a tester directory, is that needed still?
• logs directory probably to be purged wholly (csv data files, plotter script and png files)
• ipynb files?
  (recognizing that I haven't reviewed the files yet, but will help focus review by cleaning to fewer files)
