FirePick Servo/Solenoid Driver

Designer: Dayton Pid

Function

Driver board controls a single spindle on a dual spindle FirePick pick-and-place head. The board controls the on-head vacuum solenoid and raises/lowers the spindle with an RC servo. Powered by 7-40VIN that is regulated to 5V 3A with on-board LM2576 chip. The solenoid is then driven by a IRFZ44 mosfet. The power connection to the board comes through either a RJ45 connector, or a USB cable. The PCB attaches to the MakerSlide carriage with four M2 screws.

Digital inputs (3.3V):

  • 1/0 digital Z servo control 1-up, 0-down
  • 1/0 digital solenoid activation 1-on, 0-off

Other inputs:

  • 7-40VIN
  • GND

Adjustments:

  • one on-board trimpot or 555 timer for servo range adjustment.

Outputs:

  • JST PH side connector with male pins socket for matching PH connector from solenoid
  • 3 pins for standard RC servo socket (yellow/red/black)
