Channel History

The Channel History provides an oscilloscope-style waveform display for detailed DMX channel analysis.

Opening Channel History

Click any channel cell in the Universe Monitor grid to open the waveform view for that channel.

Features

  • Step-style DMX trace with gradient fill, matching the discrete nature of DMX values (0–255)
  • Selectable time windows — 5s, 10s, 30s, or 60s of visible history
  • Pause / Resume — freeze the view for inspection without losing incoming data
  • Hover crosshair — shows exact value and timestamp at any point on the waveform
  • Min / Max band — dashed indicators show the value range over the visible window
  • 60 FPS rendering with smooth continuous scrolling

Use Cases

  • Verify that a dimmer channel is fading smoothly
  • Check that a strobe channel is triggering at the expected rate
  • Diagnose timing issues between sources
  • Monitor a control channel for remote triggering
