Armor Class

Armor protects its wearer and reduces the amount of damage a character takes from sources that seek to harm them. On the other hand, it might also interfere with their abilities and give penalties to their attribute modifiers, skill checks and combat in general.

The armor class is a modifier that affects the chance for a character to be physically harmed. A character however does not always entirely rely on how much armor they are wearing. It can also mean that they are particularly dexterous or that they can use other tools and even advanced mental powers to defend themselves.

The armor class for characters is usually equal to 10 plus that target’s athletics talent and potential other bonuses.

Whenever a source is making an attempt against a target to achieve infliction of physical harm, that source must perform a check or attack roll against that target's armor class to succeed. It can however be skipped in some exceptional cases like when the narrator or a specific adventure asks for it
