Reaction

Characters can sometimes react to the actions of other characters and the environment in some situations. They can use skills and at times even items, nevertheless if it is that character's turn. Those skills and items have the word “reaction” written at the beginning of the effect. They count as special bonus actions that can only be put onto a non-empty stack.

Some circumstances like the effect of a skill, an item or an environmental circumstance, as well as other bonuses may also offer the opportunity to use a skill or an item as a reaction. They count as special bonus actions that can only be put onto a non-empty stack.

Characters need to declare them as activated before an effect starts while some of them also have a cost to pay first, like paying an amount of energy from their resource pool. Others may trigger only in a specific phase of a character’s turn. They have a bold written word next to “reaction” that names the phase they can be activated at. A character can trigger a reaction only if they pay all the costs, all conditions are met and activation happens in the right phase. Reactions however may be also limited in some exceptional cases like when the narrator or a specific adventure asks for it
